Abstract
A loss in the bony continuity of the mandible not only produces a defect in facial contour, but, because of the alteration in the natural relationship of the dental arches, interferes with nonhal mastication, swallowing and speech. The need for
reconstruction of the mandible, from a functional and esthetic point of view is generally obvious, however, the mandible is difficult to reconstruct.
Titanium mesh and Particulated Cancellous Bone and Marrow(PCBM) for the mandibular reconstruction was introduced by Boyne in 1969 and later modified by Dumbach. The meshes are fixed by monocortical screws in the adjacent mandible and are filled
with
autogenous cancellous bone from the illiac bone for the reconstruction of the mandibular defect.
We treated the mandibular defect caused by non-union of mandibular fracture and tumor resection with titanitum mesh and PCBM. We obtained good results of reconsruction for the mandibular discontinuity with titanium mesh tray and autogenous
particulated
cancellous bone graft. So, we will report several cases and its liturature review on the titanium mesh tray and autogenous particulated cancell-lous bone graft.
